An ophthalmologist-by-training with extensive early-stage development expertise, Dr. Mandell has developed novel drugs and drug delivery approaches for various topical and injectable applications. Dr. Mandell previously served as Chief Medical Officer of Noveome Biotherapeutics, Vice President of Medical Affairs at Aldeyra Therapeutics and President of Xcovery Vision.  He is an advisor to multiple private and public biotech companies.  Prior to forming LayerBio, Dr. Mandell was a Research Affiliate at MIT in the lab of his co-founder, Dr. Paula Hammond.
